Long Island Clean Water Partnership

Dear Clean Water Advocate,

This Tuesday, October 7th, the Suffolk County Legislature is poised to vote on two resolutions that have major consequences for the protection of water quality and open space on Long Island. Please send a letter urging your legislator to reject or amend IR 1830 and support IR 1746.

IR 1830 would eliminate nearly $30 million dollars of money for protection of open space authorized by the legislature in an earlier session. This measure limits funding for open space preservation.

A YES vote for IR 1746 will put into place the terms of a lawsuit settlement that will protect the County’s Drinking Water Protection Program from future raids and assure that money in that fund is only used for purposes approved by the voters of Suffolk County.

Please click here to send a letter!

Lastly, please join us at the Suffolk County Legislature on Tuesday, October 7th at 9:30AM in the Legislative Auditorium in Riverhead (map) to lend your support, offer you comments, and join us for a brief press event at 11AM.

Sincerely,

Long Island Clean Water Partnership
